A Weekend in the City

I was fortunate enough to be able to escape to Melbourne for a few days at the beginning of this month. It's not exactly the most hospitable city in winter, what with the bitter cold and temperamental weather. But it's still my favourite city of them all in Australia. I went to the football, saw a delightful exhibition and was treated to some rather mild weather (and even some sunshine!). I even snuck in some shopping, because let's face it, you can't go to Melbourne and not return home with something new. Plus it was my sister's birthday so it was bound to be the loveliest of weekends anyway.

I almost we wish we were butterflies...

My favourite Keats quote has to be the best way to start such a post. It's captivating in its entirety and I hope my photos can do at least an iota of justice to such beauty. "I almost wish we were butterflies and liv'd but three summer days - three such days with you I could fill with more delight than fifty common years could ever contain."

Summer in the city

After yet another short hiatus I am back with some photos of a recent weekend sojourn I took in Melbourne to visit my sister and her girlfriend. It was a busy weekend filled with amazing food, great company, the cutest animals and quite possibly the best shopping in all of Australia.







We went to the zoo to see the baby elephants which are quite possibly the cutest things I've ever seen.

Strawberry shortcake

I posted not that long ago about the road trip my friends and I took to Melbourne and then up along the Mornington Peninsula. Well on our last day there we decided to go on a winery tour. But, we decided not to start the day with wineries as you might expect. Oh no, we chose a quick sojourn to a nearby strawberry farm as our first stop. We got to pick our own strawberries, but the real highlight for me was the privilege of feasting on the mind-blowing that is homemade strawberry ice cream. It was a day filled with to the brim with sweetness and marvels.

Summer road trip

I've been a bit slack lately with my rather sporadic posts. This is mostly because I've been on holidays for the last week or so to a truly stunning part of Australia. I went on a road trip with some friends to Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula. We were there for about six days in total and we got to see some amazing scenery and landscapes. It was a dream come true considering my innate love of nature. The Mornington Peninsula is mostly renowned for its beaches, and I definitely discovered why. They're absolutely amazing and are obviously one of the reasons Australia has a reputation for its stunning beaches. We also got to stay in Melbourne for a couple of days, which is always a treat. I adore Melbourne, which I think I've already mentioned once or twice on here. I find it a cultural treasure trove of a city and it's endlessly inspiring. I would recommend that everyone should visit Melbourne at least once in their lifetime. And now I think I may have to add the Mornington Peninsula to that recommendation.
