1000 miles

This weekend I was lucky enough to head back home for what's known as the 'Dinghy Derby'. It's a boat race through the river and back creeks of my hometown. It's effectively an extreme sport and all of the racers have to wear helmets for their own protection. We woke up early, on a rather miserable February morning, hopped in the boat and found a perfect spot on the riverbank to watch proceedings.

It's so much fun watching them speed by, battling to keep the boats under control and vying for top spot. The battle is hard fought and well deserved.

I can't think of a better way to spend a Summer's day.

Bird on a Wire

No, I'm not making a 90's movie reference and nor am I referring to one of Leonard Cohen's most famous songs. But I am talking about a few birds that I saw perched on a wire when I went for a walk today. They always look so at ease and graceful sitting there on the thinnest of cables. I admire their comfort and grace and the excellent view they most have up there.
